Fairview Sailing was proud to be an official partner of the 2026 Round the Island Race, joining thousands of sailors for one of the world’s most iconic yacht races. Held annually around the Isle of Wight, the event attracts competitors from across the UK and beyond, ranging from seasoned racing crews to sailors taking on their very first major challenge.
This year’s race delivered almost perfect conditions. Under glorious sunshine and a steady south-westerly breeze, competitors were treated to a spectacular spinnaker start from the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes – a sight that many sailors wait years to experience. With colourful sails filling the Solent and hundreds of yachts crossing the line together, it was a truly memorable start to an unforgettable day on the water.
We were delighted to see 15 yachts from the Fairview fleet on the start line, representing a fantastic mix of experienced racers, returning Fairview customers and first-time Round the Island competitors. Watching so many crews head out to tackle the famous 50-nautical-mile course was a proud moment for the entire Fairview team.
For many of our guests, the Round the Island Race is about far more than the result on the leaderboard. It is an opportunity to be part of something special: the early-morning atmosphere in Cowes, the tactical decisions around the Needles, the long reach along the south coast of the island, and the final push back towards the finish. Whether racing for a podium position or simply aiming to complete the course, every crew shares the same sense of achievement when they cross the finish line.

As an official race partner, it was a privilege to play a part in supporting such a well-loved event. The Round the Island Race has a unique ability to bring together sailors of all ages and abilities, creating an incredible sense of camaraderie both on and off the water. From the buzz around the marinas before the start to the celebrations after racing, the spirit of the event is something that keeps people coming back year after year.
The 2026 edition certainly lived up to its reputation. The combination of excellent weather, competitive racing and outstanding participation made it one of the most enjoyable races in recent memory, and we were thrilled that so many Fairview crews were able to experience it firsthand.
A huge thank you to everyone who chose to race with Fairview Sailing this year. We hope you enjoyed every mile of the course – from the excitement of the start in Cowes to the satisfaction of crossing the finish line after circumnavigating the Isle of Wight.
We are already looking forward to returning in 2027 and can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and new competitors back on board to experience the excitement, challenge and unforgettable atmosphere.
